Cuckoo clock with Mill Wheel and Grandparents
This Cuckoo clock shows a typical Bavarian Black Forest House in a timber frame style. It depicts two elderly folk on their balcony enjoying a leisurely light lunch. There is a working water wheel, and a running stream, carved fir trees bench and other decorative furniture including a bench, table and hand cart. To the right hand side there is a small chapel with a bell ringer. The water wheel and bell move as the cuckoo calls. It has an impressive hand spliced tiled roof.
A platform of dancers that turn as the music plays.
The case is finished in an antique walnut finish.
8 day rack-strike movement with a cuckoo call on the half and full hour. The high quality Swiss (Reuge) music plays a twin melody that alternates between Edelweiss and the Happy wanderer. Manual night shut-off.
