Old Traditional Tavern, Cuckoo clock of the year 2017

This formidable piece has won August Schwer, Cuckoo clock of the year 2017. The theme is an old traditional tavern from the 1920's.

Measuring 70 cms from the top of the Bell tower to the bottom of the case, it presents a colourful scene with highly decorated and carved figurines on all three aspects. The cuckoo door is unusually coloured in white and has below it the hand painted figurines who turn and dance on the upper balcony as the music plays. The balcony is decorated with bunched hanging hops. On the lower terrace you will find 'Birgit' the waitress serving the local farmers their beer. On the left side, the Drayman rides his cart laden with barrels, and on the right hand side another patform of dancers, comprising local children, also turn as the music plays. Other decoration includes a turning Mill Wheel, fir trees, a sleigh, pebbles, flowers and a selection of local animals. This is a truly stunning piece, highly decorated and worthy of the award for the clock of the year (2017.)

The case is finished in an antique walnut finish. 8 day rack-strike movement with a cuckoo call on the half and full hour.The music plays a twin melody that alternates between Edelweiss and the Happy Wanderer.
