Clock of the year 2019
Every year the VDS - an association of Black Forest Manufacturers - vote for the clock of the year. In 2019 this clock made by August Schwer won the award.
This is a hugely impressive clock with extensive and detailed carvings. The clock depicts a farm yard scene hosting a family, children and a plethora of animals that include, a dog, foal, pig, cat, rabbit, squirrel and ducks. Other decoration includes a Bee hive, 11 fir tress, two carts and an assortment of barrels and tubs.The roof features a Bell tower, a dormer window hand made spliced tiles and a Stork with nest perched on the top.
A water wheel turns with a platform of dancers platform rotating as the music plays.
The case is finished in an antique walnut finish.
8 day rack-strike movement with a cuckoo call on the half and full hour. The high quality Swiss (Reuge) music plays a twin melody that alternates between Edelweiss and the Happy wanderer. Automatic night shut-off.
